The Joy of Writing

When I was in school, I loved writing and always looked forward to taking out my light blue journal and sparkly pink and silver pencils. While some of my friends groaned in agony when it was time to write, I always smiled and told them to think about something they love or that makes them smile. I also reminded them of the importance of capturing the reader's attention and making them feel as though they were in the story.

I loved it when the teacher gave us choices for our writing assignments. Choice D, "Write about anything you would like," was always my favorite. I wanted to teach my teacher something new and take her on a journey through my writing. I used guided imagery, adjectives, sights, and sounds to awaken my teacher's senses and make her feel as though she was in the story.

As an adult, I still have my favorite writing spots, like near my fireplace, on a hiking trail, or near the ocean. I always write about real experiences and make time to sit in my favorite writing spot each day. I believe that writers need their favorite spot so that stories can flow from the brain and to the heart and fingers.

I have kept a journal throughout my adult life and have written about everything from family gatherings to celebrations and traditions. Encouraged by my friends and family, I published my first book, "Slices of Life Italian-American Stories."

My advice to anyone who loves to write is to take time to write each night, incorporate writing into your daily activities, remain close to family and friends who share your passion for writing, and always remember that your writing is a gift that you give.

Why People Read Inspirational Book

Why do people read inspirational books? Well, all of us has their own problems, may it be small or big and we always find a way to deal with it. There are people who have experienced so much pain and burden in their lives and they feel that they are never going to get out of it. These kind of stories give strength to those who have the same illness or are suffering from other kinds of illness. They are encouraged to still try and live a happy life even if they are spending it in a hospital bed.

Inspirational books do really teach us great lessons and shows us that in every struggle there is hope and in every problem there is a solution. We are all connected to one another may be not by blood but through our stories.

Book Review-Levi's Will by W Dale Cramer

Returning to his Amish roots to attend his father's funeral, Will McGruder, an Amish prodigal, remembers the span of his life from the time he originally fled in shame. Traveling with his son back to Amish country, Will recalls his life as the scenery and the conversation spark flashbacks of his childhood and the events that propelled him to leave.

The story is told in two parallel time lines which create intrigue as the reader assemblies both the past and the present events, adding a sense of mystery to the story.

Memories of bravery, dedication, responsibility, fear, love, and friendship are described with endearment, focusing the reader to think of their own lives and relationships. I was surprised to read of the Amish custom of 'bundling' and the impact it has on some. It is an Amish custom not often discussed in fiction. This custom was the focus of much of the storyline.

This is a book that you want to savor as it is filled with common sense wisdom. The story is not so much told as unfolded as you read. This is a wonderful story with authentic, believable characters, and rich history. Love, forgiveness, mercy and reconciliation are all play a part in making this a very enjoyable read.
